Charles Ward

Charles Gilbert Ward, Sr., 90, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was the son of Ernest D. Ward and Mildred M. Ward. He retired from NASA after 42 years as a Facility Management Specialist. He served 22 years in the Army National Guard and retired as a Platoon Sergeant, served 36 years on the Exmore Town Council, and was a longtime member of the Exmore Moose Lodge. Charles was a lifetime farmer and part owner of Wyndham Farms. He had a love for horseracing, fishing, boats, riding his ATV Mule and life.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Marion; two brothers, Dunton and his wife, Elmira, and Wesley and his wife, Myrtle; sister-in-law, Myrene Poulson, and brother-in-law, Herman Poulson; and a nephew, Ernie Ward.

He is survived by three children, Patsy W. Turner (Jimmy), Pam W. Carpenter (Kris), and Charles G. Ward, Jr. (Roxane); four grandsons, Luke Carpenter, Brad Carpenter, J Turner, and Colton Ward; nieces and nephews, Lynn Patykula, Dixie Greer, Diane Justice, Deborah Mears, and Tommy Ward; several great nieces and great nephews; and two special caregivers, Linda Guy and Stephanie Mancuso.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 11:00AM at Belle Haven Cemetery with Reverend Rob Kelly officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's-Albero House for Disabled Children, 6171 Kempsville Circle, Norfolk, VA 23502.
