Gary Allen Baxter
January 10, 1949 — February 10, 2020
Gary Allen Baxter, 71, husband of Victoria Kellam Baxter and a resident of Melfa, VA, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. A native of Amityville, NY, he was the son of the late George C. Baxter, Sr. and the late Josephine Smith Baxter. He was a retired Rural Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service; a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Delmarva Decoy Collectors Association.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Baxter Swanson and her husband, Michael, of Orlando, FL; two brothers, George C. Baxter, Jr. and his wife, Pat, of West Islip, NY, and Stephen Baxter and his wife, Valerie, of Amityville, NY; two sisters-in-law, Janice Baxter of Amityville, NY, and Anne Kellam of Cheriton, VA; a brother-in-law, P.C. Kellam and his wife, Mickey, of Silver Beach, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 2:00 PM, at Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Delmarva Decoy Collectors Association, c/o Decoy Magazine, Attn. Joe Engers, P.O. Box 787, Lewes, DE 19958.
