Mr. John A. “Jackie” Bowen passed away at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital on June 6, 2020. He was 73. He was born in Somers Point, New Jersey and spent his younger years in Cape May, New Jersey. His family relocated to the Eastern Shore when his father retired in 1954. He called the Eastern Shore home.

During his high school years he was an avid athlete and a Boy Scout. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout an accomplishment he was very proud of.

During his career he wore many hats. One being “a jack of all trades” by many. He was an accomplished welder, electrician, clam boat captain and mate, certified scuba diver and pilot among others. He could fix anything.

He had a special companion, Cathy Tolbert, who cared for him and was by his side for the last several years. And his four-legged friend who he adored, Dutchess. He also had 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers Norman and Harry Lee and a nephew, Rocky Bowen.

At his request, no service will be held. His ashes will be scattered at sea, his favorite place to be. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jackie’s memory to the SPCA Onley, Va. or the Virginia Waterman’s Memorial in Cape Charles, Va.
