Obituary
David A. Barbee, 87, passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2022, at his home in Cape Charles, VA. He was born on June 18, 1935, in Alexandria, VA, to William A. and Auvergne J. Barbee. His lifelong dream was to live on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and in 1998, he realized that dream. Dave loved fishing the Chesapeake Bay and was recognized as a Virginia Master Saltwater Angler for having qualified for over 25 citation awards from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament. Dave worked as a carpenter and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America for over 50 years. He was also a veteran of the US Army.
Dave was predeceased in death by his parents as well as a brother, William Boyce Barbee, and a son, Steven. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Peggy Cornwell Barbee; sons, Michael and Mark; as well as step-children, Kandy (Paul), Ricky (Joni), and Rodger; seven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service for David will be held in the spring.
