Alta Applegate

Alta B. Applegate, 92, wife of the late George H. Applegate and a resident of Onancock, VA, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. A native of Spring Lake, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Alton B. Osborn and the late Susie Falkinburg Osborn. She was a retired Assistant Administrator for Accomack County and an avid quilter.

She is survived by seven children, Jeanne M. Applegate Lotkowski and her husband, Ed, of Keene, NH, Edith L. “Sandi” Caspersen of Bloomsburg, PA, Patricia A. “Triche” Sherman and her husband, Corrie, of Point Pleasant, NJ, George H. Applegate, Jr. and his wife, Christy, of Onancock, John W. Applegate of Bealeton, VA, Susan M. Hurst and her husband, Andy, of Onley, VA, and James D. Applegate and his wife, Kim, of Cape Charles, VA; two sisters, Doris White of Long Branch, NJ, and Ruth Masella of Venice, FL; eighteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA Eastern Shore, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
