Barbara Sturgis

March 16, 1932 — September 7, 2017

Barbara Nordstrom Sturgis, 85, a resident of Nassawadox, VA, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Riverside Shore Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, VA. An Eastern Shore native, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Vernon Nordstrom, Sr. and the late Della Marshall Nordstrom. She was a retired Hampton City Public Schools Special Education teacher, member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church, supporter of Special Olympics and the Eastern Shore Public Library.

She is survived by four children, Mark F. Freeze and his wife, Jeanine, of Jamesville, VA, Scott C. Freeze and his wife, Susan, of Jamesville, Ellen F. Spaulding of Exmore, VA, and Lauren D. Freeze of Onancock, VA; two brothers, Clyde Vernon Nordstrom, Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Williamsburg, VA, and G. Ray Nordstrom and his wife, Bonnie, of Pocomoke City, MD; three grandchildren, Andrew Spaulding, Melanie Mason and Matthew Freeze; five great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Monday, September 11, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Belle Haven United Methodist Church with Reverends Paul Oh and Judith Worthington officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to A.R.C. of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 626, Exmore, VA 23350 or Belle Haven United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 37, Belle Haven, VA 23306.
