Brenda Elizabeth Dunton, 68, passed away after a brief illness Sunday, March 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Brenda was born January 18, 1950, in Nassawadox, VA, and raised in Cape Charles, VA. She attended Keys Business College, worked for Sea Train Shipping Company in Norfolk, VA, and Wilmington, NC, and retired from Northampton County Social Services.
Brenda loved animals and rescued many dogs and cats over the years. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends on many Christmas Eves and Thanksgivings. Brenda lived for summers. You could always find her spending her days on the beach, her boat, or on her front porch where she invited all who walked by to join her.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Cape Charles.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gilmer and Phyllis Smith Dunton and her uncle, William Smith and his wife, Anne. Brenda is survived by her brother, Russ Dunton and his wife, Kim; cousin, Steve Smith and his wife, Christy, and their family; nephew, Andy Dunton and his wife, Susan; two nieces, Sandra Stone and her husband, David, and Heather Lewis, and her husband, Kenny; and seven great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, March 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Reverend Linda Lowe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA Eastern Shore, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418 or Trinity United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 326, Cape Charles, VA 23310.
