Dixie Hawes

Dixie Fowler Hawes, 97, wife of the late Russell Woodrow Hawes and a resident of Quinby, VA, formerly of Philomont, VA, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock, VA. A native of Clarke County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Fowler and the late Daisy Elsea Fowler. She was a member of Roszell Chapel Church and attended Smith Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hawes of Easton, MD, Diane H. VanTatenhove of Elton, VA; a grandson, Rusty Fishback of Quinby. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce H. Smith.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at 7:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore with Rev. Curtis Lucy officiating. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 3:30 PM at Ebenezer Cemetery, Round Hill, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Gwen Blake, 5046 Seaside Road, Exmore, VA 23350.
