Effie Etta Hanes

March 10, 1939 — January 15, 2019

Our beloved mother, "Boots" Hanes passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 15, 2019, after a long, difficult journey with Alzheimer's.

Born March 10, 1939, the seventh of sixteen children, in Pie, West Virginia. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Hanes, and her son, Allen "Pat" Ferrell. Boots leaves behind her son, John Ferrell (Anita); daughters, Cissy Christopher (Waverly), Jaimie Aigner (Jay), and April Bright (Mark); grandchildren, James Derrick, Trish, Landon, Jared, Jason, Brandon, Derrick, and Cathleen; and twenty two much loved great-grandchildren.

Mamaw loved singing for Christ as part of a blue grass gospel group, cooking for friends and family, and George Jones. Her greatest love was caring for her grandchildren, imparting biblical and country wisdom. She was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, VA.

Very special thanks to Eden Garden Nurses, C.N.A.'s and Riverside Shore Hospice. Thank you all for being so faithful to our lady.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 1:00 PM, at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to King of Glory Lutheran Church Memory Café, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
