Eric Joaquin Purdue

Eric Joaquin Purdue, 39, a father, brother, son, uncle, grandfather, and dear friend to all, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, in Cape Charles, VA.

Eric grew up in Jacksonville, IL. After graduating high school, he attended trade school for pipe welding. He was a very skilled pipe welder, sharing his knowledge by instructing others. Eric worked all over the United States. His favorite place to be was Hawaii. Eric is best remembered for his sense of humor and always making us laugh. He enjoyed drawing, cooking, watching movies, sailing, and was always learning new skills.

Eric was preceded in death by his grandmother, Minnie Rose Purdue. He is survived by his parents, Tom Purdue and his wife, Tammy; his mother, Carol Lynn Mulligan Purdue; his children, James Purdue, Katie Purdue, Madison Purdue, and Michael Stryon Purdue; his brother, Howard Purdue and his wife, Donielle; two sisters, Dora Meyer and Joretta Purdue; three nieces; two nephews; and one grandchild.

A Celebration of Eric's life will be held Friday, April 6, 2018, at Jacksonville Church of Christ, 2365 W. Morton Ave, Jacksonville, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00PM and a Memorial Service will follow from 4:00 to 5:00PM.
