George Alfred Mears

George Alfred Mears, 73, husband of Joan Bennett Mears and a resident of Exmore, Virginia, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, at his residence. A native of Mappsburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late Hugh Nat Mears and the late Lillian Parks Mears. He retired from VDOT as a supervisor. He was a member of Exmore Baptist Church and an avid NASCAR fan and deer hunter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his church family. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Fred Allen Mears.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Exmore Baptist Church with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shore Christian Academy, 11624 Occohannock Road, Exmore, Virginia 23350.
