Helen Marion May, 99, wife of the late Dr. John Peter May and a resident of Onancock, VA, formerly of Virginia Beach, VA passed away Wednesday November 7, 2018, at Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, Onancock. A native of Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Frank Duer and the late Mary Keller Duer. Mrs. May was a retired secretary for the Federal Government.
She is survived by eight nieces, Carole Johnson, Sandra Rogers, Karen Horvath, Arlene Hughes, Cindy Flagg, Paige Shoemaker, Robin Shoemaker, and Roxanne Duer; one nephew, Robert Duer; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Mrs. May was predeceased by two brothers; four sisters; two nephews, Rex Shoemaker and Don Shaw; and one niece, Mary Land.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Hermitage on the Eastern Shore with Reverend Robert Fletcher officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA Eastern Shore, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418 or a charity one's choice.
