Jeffery (Jeff) L. Reynolds was born June 10, 1957, in Nassawadox, VA. He shared his birthday with his beloved late maternal Uncle, Kenneth Doughty, Sr., of Willis Wharf, VA. He passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018, at home with his family by his side, in Boykins, VA. He was the youngest child of the late Harvey and Helen Reynolds. He grew up in the family home built by his parents in the village of Oyster on Virginia's Eastern Shore.
Jeff attended Cheriton Elementary School in Cheriton, VA, and Northampton High School in Eastville, VA. At age 17 he left high school and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served four years on active duty in Yorktown, VA. He later served two years in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Jeff worked as a machinist for the Caterpillar Company in South Carolina and the Newport News Shipyard, Newport News, VA.
According to his parents Jeff was in such a big hurry to be born he almost was born in the car on the way to the hospital. They teased him afterward that this was the last time he was in that big of a hurry!! Jeff was a carefree, happy youngster and was rarely seen without a smile on his face.
In addition to his wife, Lisa, Jeff is survived by his daughter, Brooke A. Ripollone and her husband, Giancarlo, of Simpsonville, SC; son, Seth Reynolds and his wife, Kimberely, and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Simpsonville; brother, Bill Reynolds of Cape Charles, VA; sister, June R. Saunders and her husband, Loren, of Barstow, CA; paternal Aunt, Fay R. Doughty of Cheriton; maternal aunts, Catherine D. Culver and her husband, Uncle Howard, of Harmans, MD, and Flossie Doughty and her late husband, Uncle Curtis Q. Doughty, of Savage, MD; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by dear friend, Quinton Lowe and family of Boykins.
The family would like to thank the Heartland Health and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Jeff until his passing.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held in the Spring or early Summer of 2019 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
