John Leslie Parks, Sr.
October 8, 1931 — September 21, 2018
John Leslie Parks, Sr., 86, husband of Susan Gregory Parks and a resident of Midlothian, VA, passed away Friday September 21, 2018, at Memory Care of Richmond. A native of Belle Haven, VA, he was the son of the late John T. Parks and the late Nannie Shockley Parks. A retired farmer, he was a lifetime member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church, lifetime member of Exmore Moose Lodge #683, a former member of Pungoteague Ruritan Club, and former Vice President of Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit Association.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Parks is survived by three children, John Leslie Parks, Jr. and his wife, Cherie, of Charlottesville, VA, Patricia Parks Kellam and her husband, Eddie O., of Chesterfield, VA, and Anne Marie Silverman and her husband, Jon, of Upper Saddle River, NJ; one brother Dan R. Parks and his wife, Ann, of Charlottesville; eight grandchildren, Scott Kellam and his wife, Nikki, of Powhatan, VA, Gregory Kellam and fiancé, Mallory McKenzie, of Powhatan, Todd Kellam and his wife, Chloe, of Richmond, Justin Parks of Arlington, VA, Jordan Parks of Charlottesville, Kevin Silverman of New York City, NY, Jeremy Silverman of Upper Saddle River, and Allison Silverman Paul and her husband, Brian, of New York City; and two great-grandchildren Parker Kellam of Powhatan and Jase Kellam of Powhatan.
A celebration of life service will be held graveside in Belle Haven Cemetery on Monday, September 24, 2018, at 2:00 pm with Reverend Judith Worthington officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Belle Haven United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 37, Belle Haven, VA 23306 or to SPCA Eastern Shore, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
