Kathryn Raines

Kathryn Ann Raines 85, originally from Ripley, WV, went home to the Lord on September 17, 2026, in Nassawadox, VA.

Kathryn was born August 12th, 1941, to the late William and Frances (Randolph) Ashby. She graduated from Ripley High in 1959. She is survived by her brother James (Johanna) Ashby, sister Karen (John) McClung, son Kenny (Veronica) Raines, 8 grandchildren, Joseph (Amy) Shaver, Jonathan (Madison) Raines, Adam Raines, Daniel Raines, James Mounie, David Mounie, Joseph (Tatianna) Mounie, Steven (Leeana) Mounie and 10 great grandchildren.

Kathryn was a member of the Mill Creek and Parchment Valley Baptist church. Kathryn will be remembered for many things including her excellent cooking and big meals- often served to Kenny’s Friends when on the farm at Frozen Creek. She was a 4H leader and spent decades working at the Jackson County Junior Fair. She also served as a magistrate assistant in the 80’s until being elected and serving as Magistrate of Jackson County. In 2000, Kathryn moved to Virginia to be closer to her son and grandchildren where she became “Gram” to all who met her.
