Listen to Obituary

LaVerne Huether Parks, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2026. Born on February 2, 1935, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the beloved daughter of Robert George Huether and Irene Flowers.

LaVerne graduated from Central High School in 1953 and lived a life deeply rooted in her Christian faith. She was a devoted and loving wife to Jackie R. Parks, and they shared 69 years of marriage marked by enduring love and devotion.

A dedicated homemaker, LaVerne’s greatest joy was caring for others. She opened her home and heart to many children over the years and was lovingly known as “Nanny” to so many whose lives she touched. She faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, sharing her love of God with generations. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful storyteller and for the simple, comforting ways she showed love, whether through cooking a favorite meal or giving an amazing back scratch or back rub.

She is survived by her children: Timothy Parks (preceded in death by Deborah), Anita Russell (Tommy), and Robert Parks. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Jennifer Ferrara (Angelo), Diane Powers (Tom), Anita Clayton (Bruce), and Stephanie Cook (Mark), and a cherished great-grandmother to Alyssa Ferrara, Chad Clayton, Antonio Ferrara, Carly Clayton, Jackson Powers, Kaylee Cook, Aubrey Ferrara, Owen Cook, and Carolina Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, her son Jeffrey Parks, and her granddaughter Carrie Russell.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Wanda Logan, Teedy Guy, and Rysheka Williams, and to the compassionate staff at Riverside Hospice for their unwavering care and support.

LaVerne will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her nurturing spirit, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
