Lorraine Palmer Gillespie

Lorraine Palmer Gillespie, 77, wife of the late Raymond L. Gillespie and a resident of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at her residence. A native of Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert Palmer and the late Ethel Purdy Palmer. Mrs. Gillespie was a homemaker.

She is survived by five children, Donald Richard Gillespie and his wife, Debbie, of Newport News, VA, Raymond Scott Gillespie, Sr. and his wife, Linda, of Mechanicsville, Jo-Ann Gillespie Taylor of Mechanicsville, Julie Catherine Childress and her husband, Rob, of Severna Park, MD, Jennifer Gillespie Jones and her husband, Todd, of Hubert, NC; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Palmer.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
