Margaret Lee Lewis Byrd

Margaret Lee Lewis Byrd, 78, wife of Rufus Clifton Byrd, Jr. and a resident of Birdsnest, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at Heritage Hall Health Care, Nassawadox.

A native of Birdsnest, Mrs. Byrd was the daughter of the late Bloomfield Lewis and the late Elizabeth Taylor Lewis.

A funeral service will be held at Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore, today, Jan. 5 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Dr. William Nieporte will officiate. Interment will be in Red Bank Cemetery, Marionville. Family will join friends at the Doughty Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Other than her husband, Mrs. Byrd is survived by three children, Rufus Clifton Byrd III and his wife Anna of Port Lucie, Fla., Horace Lewis Stepp and his wife Christa of Yorktown, Va. and Katherine Averill of Rowlett, Texas; a sister, Lois Lewis Powell of Quinby; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore.
