Marshall M. Romeo, 82, of Cape Charles, VA, died in the early hours of July 24, 2024, after battling the effects of a hemorrhagic stroke.
Marshall was born on November 13, 1941, to Benjamin and Esther Romeo in the Bronx, New York. He graduated from A.B. Davis High School in 1959, and attended the University of Pittsburgh and the State University of New York at Cortland, where he lettered in lacrosse. He began his career the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange and was a trader on Wall Street at Merrill Lynch in New York, and Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers in San Francisco. After many years in the stock market, he owned and operated businesses in the automotive industry. In 2004, Marshall and his wife of 55 years, Roberta Jennings Romeo, relocated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where they have owned and operated the Cape Charles Coffee House for the last 20 years.
Marshall was passionate about sports and traveled to both Mexico City in 1968 and Montreal in 1976 for the Olympic Games. He was an avid reader, a master rose gardener, enjoyed carpentry, fine dining, and traveling the world with his wife and family.
Marshall married his wife Roberta on September 20,1969. They have four children, Kristin Huggins, Marshall M. Romeo, Jr, Richard Romeo, and Tara Muniz.
He is survived by Roberta Romeo of Cape Charles, VA Sister Jessica Hollowell of Mission Viejo, CA Brother in Law John Jennings of Shreveport, LA Daughter Kristin Huggins of Round Rock, TX Son Marshall M. Romeo Jr, of Eastville, VA Son Richard Romeo of Dublin, VA Daughter Tara Muniz and Son in Law Justin Muniz of Santa Rosa, CA Grandchildren Katie Huggins, Patrick Huggins, and Brianna Drobot Nieces/Nephews Leisa Reid, Karen Conn, Michael Conn, Helen Jennings, Chris Jennings, Susan Jennings, Jennifer Murray, and John Jennings.
Services will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, 549 Randolph Ave., Cape Charles, VA 23310 on Tuesday, Aug. 6th at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the church parish hall immediately afterward.
