Mildred McCorkell Reed Thomas, 89, beloved wife of the late Robert B. Thomas and a resident of Nassawadox, VA, died Tuesday April 3, 2018, at her residence. A native of Seaview, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Paul Reed and the late Mattie McCorkell Reed. She was a retired school teacher for Richmond Public Schools with 40 years of service and devoted member of Johnson's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Robert B. Thomas, II of Exmore, VA; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a daughter in law; and many special friends. Other than her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Thomas Tankard and a sister, Edna Reed Goffigon.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Reverend Clarence Bowen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Johnson's United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Marge Kacik, 12337 Trout Lane, Machipongo VA 23405.
