Pat Smith

Francis Patterson Smith, better known as Pat, 76, husband of the late Patricia Denise Pruitt Smith and a resident of Exmore, Virginia, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. A native of Exmore, he was the son of the late Samuel Francis Smith and the late Agnes Katherine Miles Smith. He was a retired gas attendant for the Exmore Tru Blu Station, enjoyed collecting comic books, yard work, and riding around the Eastern Shore.

He is survived by two sisters, Faye Robertson and Phyllis Robbins; a sister-in-law, Shirley Smith; numerous nieces and nephews, Kathy Parks, Sam Robbins, Ray Hemphill, Bill Hemphill, Carol Hemphill, Jeanie Hemphill, Patty Hemphill, Donnie Hemphill, Robin Wilson, Johnny Birch, Aiden Smith, David Smith, Rebecca Parks, and Laurie Wood; and his very special caregiver, Jessica Celik. In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Smith, and a sister, Groverteen Hemphill.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 3:00PM, at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment will be private in Belle Haven Cemetery.
