Paul Gammell, Ph.D

Paul Mitchell Gammell, Ph.D, 80, husband of Betty Gammell and a resident of Exmore, VA, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA. A native of Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Lewis Gammell and the late Mildred Gammell. He was a retired Physicist, had a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Master’s Degree from the American University, PhD in Physics from the Catholic University, and attended Exmore Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by her children, Bob Renner, Jr. and his wife, Marlaine, of Salisbury, MD, Teresa Britt and her husband, Steve, of Union Bridge, MD, Don Renner of Exmore, and Bill Renner of Hebron, MD; a brother-in-law, Paul Clifford; six grandchildren, Roxanne Boseman and her husband, James, Bob Renner, Jessica Jones, Jon Renner, Kevin Britt and his wife, Danielle, and Tyler Britt; a niece, Paula Spain; two nephews, Jay Clifford and David Clifford; two great granddaughters; a great grandson due in December; and a great-great grandson due in February.He was predeceased by a brother, Lewis Gammell; two sisters, Barbara Clifford and Ellen Jane Cutter; and a nephew, Meade Clifford.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Thursday, October 3, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA Eastern Shore, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418 or Exmore Baptist Church, 11624 Occohannock Road, Exmore, Virginia 23350.
