Ray Clark

June 1, 1932 — March 25, 2019

Rankin Ray Clark, 86, husband of Lillie Richardson Clark and a resident of Capeville, VA, passed away peacefully Monday, March 25, 2019, at his residence with his loving wife of 64 years by his side. Born June 1, 1932 in Amherst County, VA, and then moving to the Eastern Shore when Ray was eight, he was the son of the late Richard Clark and the late Annie Belle Floyed Clark. Ray served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After serving his country, he drove for a logging company and then drove an oil truck for Bagwell Oil Company until his retirement.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ginger Pruitt and her husband, Keith, of Cedarview, VA, and Wendy Carpenter and her husband, J.K., of Cheriton, VA; and three grandchildren, Cassie P. Simmons, Dallas Pruitt and Ashley Carpenter; two great grandchildren, Kaiden Stokes, who loved to "steal" his quarters and Hershey Kisses, and Jasmine Simmons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Clark Madron; four brothers, Richard, Dalton, Bead and Cager; four sisters, Flora, Masie, Mamie and Pearl; and a grandson, Clark.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, March 29, 2019, at 11:00 AM in Capeville Masonic Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Charles Peterson officiating. Family will join friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 til 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cheriton Fire Company, P.O. Box 41, Cheriton, VA 23316 or Cheriton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 227, Cheriton, VA 23316.
