Ray Taylor

William R. “Ray” Taylor, Jr., 69, a resident of Cape Charles, VA, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Nassawadox, VA. A native of Oyster, VA, he was the son of the late William R. “Bud” Taylor and the late Viola Bell Taylor. He was a retired carpenter and roofer, worked for Zapata Haynie, was a Charter Boat Captain, and a member of Travis Chapel United Methodist Church. Ray loved fishing, scuba diving and motorcycle racing.

He is survived by a daughter, Lou Taylor and her husband, James H. Dorr, of Rockville, MD; two sisters, Betty T. Collins and her husband, Tom, of Machipongo, VA, and Rhoda T. Robberecht and her husband, David, of Cheriton, VA; a brother, Daniel T. Taylor of Cheriton; five grandchildren, James Dorr, William Dorr, Matthew Dorr, Adam Dorr, and Savannah Dorr, all of Rockville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P. O. Box 430, Onancock, VA 23417 or Travis Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 106, Cheriton, VA 23316.
