Bob Lamb, 96, of Cheriton, Virginia passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, while in Nassawadox Rehabilitation and Nursing in Nassawadox Virginia.

Bob was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 4, 1929, he was the son of William L. Lamb and Edna May Hitten Lamb. After attending High school, Bob enlisted in the Air Force of the United States in 1948. He attended the Air Force Technical School and became a Radar Maintenance Technician during the Korean War. He achieved the rank of S/SGT and was discharged in 1952. After military service, he worked for Bendix Corporation as a Radar Field Engineer and was responsible for radar sites in various European countries and also sites along the East Coast of the United States.

On September 3, 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Smith Lamb. He left Bendix Corporation and worked alongside his father-in-law at the family seafood business, H. Allen Smith, Inc. in Oyster Virginia from 1958 until his retirement. Together they raised one son, Robert Dale Lamb, Jr. He was continually yearning for knowledge in all things. Once he set his mind on a particular interest, he pursued it until he was satiated.

He was an animal lover, hunter, avid fisherman, accomplished pilot, self-taught woodworker, artist/painter, and gardener. He also enjoyed playing gin rummy and poker with his many fellow card playing friends.

His family would like to thank all of the individuals who over the years have looked out for him in numerous ways while being widowed for so many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Lou Smith Lamb, Richard Lamb (brother) and Eugene King (brother-in-law). He is survived by his son, Robert D. Lamb Jr. (Lisa) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his granddaughter Laura Katherine Lamb of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his sister Joyce Lamb King of Leslie, Michigan, Jeanette Lamb (sister-in-law) of Leslie, Michigan and many nieces and nephews in Michigan and Ohio.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00pm at Cape Charles Cemetery Cape Charles, Virginia, with Barry Dowing officiating. A reception will follow the service at the American Legion in Cheriton, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bob’s memory to Riverside Shore Hospice, P.O. Box 615, Onley, VA 23418.
