Roland Elliott

Roland Kent Elliott, 83, husband of Barbara Rice Elliott and a resident of Wachapreague, VA, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Shore Health and Rehab in Parksley, VA. He was the son of the late David Winder Elliott, Jr. and the late Frances Doughty Altman. He enjoyed playing pool and was involved in pool tournaments in Virginia Beach and all over the Shore. He also enjoyed watching horse racing live and on the tv; enjoyed fishing; playing poker online; worked at parts stores for many years; and was in the United States Coast Guard for six years.

In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by his son, Dean Elliott (Rose); granddaughter, Nicole Chambers; two great granddaughters; Madeline and Oakleigh Chambers; sister, Jonnie Ard; brother-in-law, JW Rice (Beth); nieces, Sharon Albin (Jimmy), Brenda Tyson (Steve), Andi Rice, Mandi Wessells (Bert), and Hannah Rice; nephew, Kevin Bigford (Stephanie); close knit cousins and lifelong friends. He predeceased in death by his, grandparents, David Elliott Sr., Joyce Sturgis, Ralph Doughty, and Juanita Purnell; and his brothers-in-law, Wayne Rice and his wife, Sue, and Don Ard.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 11:00AM at Doughty Funeral Home with Vernon Bell and Mickey Ashby officiating. Family will join friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Shore Cancer Center, P.O.
