Ronnie Edward Buckner
September 19, 1957 — July 17, 2017
Ronnie Edward Buckner, 59, husband of Nancy Hammer Buckner, a resident of Hacksneck, VA, left this world too soon on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Cypress, TX, while visiting his family. A native of Pungoteague, VA, he was the son of the late Janet Pusey Custis and Larry Custis, Sr. and wife, Cindy, of Pungoteague. He was a self-employed carpenter, caretaker of Shirley Farm and well known in the community for his many acts of kindness and caring for others.
In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by his children, Beth Buckner Thornes and husband, John, of Onancock, VA, and Jesse Buckner and wife, Meredith, of Cypress; brothers, Robert Buckner and wife, Soraya, of Cedarview, VA, and Larry Custis, Jr. and wife, Mary, of Harborton, VA; granddaughter, Taylor Thornes and grandson, J.J. Thornes, both of Onancock; another grandson due to arrive in December in Cypress; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Many lives have been touched by Ronnie. He was a good listener, debater, and a loyal friend. His legacy will live on through the stories to be told and the memories to be shared.
A celebration of life service will be conducted Friday, August 4, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Craddockville United Methodist Church with Pastors Bobby Parks and Rob Kelly officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S.P.C.A. Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
