Sheila Greer Crockett, 62, of Parksley, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 9, 2026.

Born in Nassawadox, Virginia, Sheila was the daughter of the late James Preston Greer and Lucille Bundick Greer. Throughout her life, she was known for her compassionate heart, unwavering faith, and deep love for animals.

For 17 years, Sheila faithfully served as Shelter Manager for the Eastern Shore SPCA. Her passion for animal welfare was evident in the countless animals she rescued, nurtured, and helped find loving homes. Together with her beloved husband, Rodger Crockett, of 44 years, she devoted much of her life to caring for animals in need, leaving a lasting impact on the community and the lives of those she touched.

A woman of strong faith, Sheila lived her life guided by kindness, generosity, and service to others. She found joy in helping both people and animals and was cherished by family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew her.

When she was not caring for animals, Sheila enjoyed gardening, searching for treasures in thrift stores and at yard sales, and spending time near the water. She especially loved traveling to Job's Island, a place that brought her peace and happiness. Sheila cherished all of the animals she loved and cared for throughout her life, each holding a special place in her heart. Her faithful companion, Connor, was the most recent of those beloved pets and a constant source of comfort, companionship, and unconditional love.

In addition to her mother, Lucille Bundick Greer, and her beloved husband, Rodger Crockett, Sheila is survived by her daughters, Autumn Crockett Miller (John Jr.) and Amanda Marie Crockett; her cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cayden, and Kaytlynn; her brothers, James Preston Greer, Charles W. Greer, and Troy Greer; and her beloved dog, Connor. She is also survived by many extended family members, friends, and countless animal lovers whose lives she touched through her work and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Preston Greer, and her daughter, Amber Marie Crockett.

Sheila's legacy of compassion, faith, and dedication to animal welfare will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and animals will be remembered always.

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
