Thelma Abbott

Thelma Lewis Abbott 91, wife of the late Buck Abbott and a resident Virginia Beach, VA, formerly of Cheriton, VA, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Pelican Healthcare in Virginia Beach. A native of Wachapreague, VA, she was the daughter of the late Edward Lewis and the late Florence Richardson Lewis. She was a member of Cheriton United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two children, Linda Linzey and Dan Phillips Abbott both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Sylvia L. Stephens of Jacksonville, FL,; two brothers, Vernon Lewis of Cheriton, and Samuel Lewis of Singers Island, FL; two grandchildren, Jason Gordon and his wife, Kathryn, of Spotsylvania County,VA, and Kathlin Gordon of Virginia Beach; three great grandchildren, Lily Gordon, William Gordon, and Emmalyne Furman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 1:00PM at Cheriton United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Timmerman officiating. Interment will follow in Cape Charles Cemetery. While inside the church, everyone is asked to wear a face covering. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23453 or a charity of one’s choice.
