Wayne “Slick” E. Parker, 76 of Clayton, DE, formerly of Oyster, VA gained his wings on April 16, 2026
after a courageous battle with cancer. Slick was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Slick was born on April 13, 1950. Son of the late William (Digger) Spencer Parker and Virginia (Skipper)
Pearl Brady Parker of Oyster, VA.
Slick began working at the age of 12, bagging groceries at McCready's. He later worked at C&D
Seafood in 1976, where he met his longtime friend Ned Doughty. Slick joined Ned when he acquired
KMC Canning Factory, where he became friends with Joey Johnson. In 1989, they relocated the
business to Clayton, Delaware, where he worked for Nature's Pride/Hanover. His career progressed to
Sydells in Hartly, Delaware, and finally to Red Bird Farms/Ise/Cal-Mine Foods in Warwick, Maryland,
until his health declined.
Slick enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and anything related to saltwater. He would visit Dover Downs to bet
on horse races, including the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes. You could also
spot him frequenting places that sold lottery tickets.
Slick loved the holidays, especially Christmas, which meant there would be lots of food. He enjoyed
eating everything—from boiled fish and raw hot dogs to marsh hens.
Slick is survived by his wife, Patricia Parker; his daughter Melissa Long (Tony) and son Spencer Parker
(Drucilla), stepchildren James Permelia, Tracy Hunter (James), and Shaun Permelia (Kristie); 4
grandchildren Morgan & Dylan Eder, Seth & Jordan Parker, 11 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great
grandchildren. Slick will also be missed by his beloved dogs Molly and Natalie.
Slick was preceded in death by not only his father and mother but also his siblings. A sister Catherine
Darlene Parker Brady and brothers William S. Parker Jr., Alvin ( Buddy) S. Parker, Douglas R. Parker
and Randall L Parker. Nephews Harry (Curly) Parker and Ronnie Brady. His beloved pets Cuddles and
Macy.
