William Thomas Bell, Sr.

William Thomas Bell Sr., 82, husband of the late Anna Thornes Bell and a resident of Chesapeake, VA, formerly of Exmore, VA, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Atlantic Shores Retirement Community in Virginia Beach. A native of Cape Charles, VA, he was the son of the late William C. Bell and the late Helen Moore Bell. He retired as Master Chief U. S. Coast Guard and was employed by Smithfield Foods for twenty years.

He is survived by two sons, William Thomas Bell Jr. of Harriman, TN, and Stephen W. Bell of Virginia Beach; a sister, Betty Bell Try of Exmore; a brother, Charles Preston Bell and his wife, Carolyn, of Alabama; seven grandchildren, Stephen W. Bell Jr., Lauren A. Bell, Esther Bell, Faith Bell, Clara Bell, William Bell III, and Gideon Bell.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be conducted Friday, May 24, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Family will join friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 til 7:30 PM. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305.
