Zoe Louise Kirk, 65, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, in Machipongo, Virginia. A native of Rabat, Morocco, she was the daughter of the late Lt. Col. John Melville Kirk, USAF, and the late Helen Rufer Kirk. She, her mother and brother accompanied Col. Kirk as he was subsequently reassigned to posts in Wiesbaden, Germany, Mobile, Alabama, Chelveston, England, and Alamogordo, New Mexico, where he retired. Ms. Kirk earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Journalism from New Mexico State University and later completed graduate studies at the University of New Mexico.
Ms. Kirk served as the Director of Public Relations for the Space Hall of Fame in New Mexico before relocating to the Washington, D.C., area where she was employed in various administrative capacities for such organizations as the American Red Cross and the Federal Office of Personnel Management. She retired to the Eastern Shore in 1999.
Ms. Kirk is survived by her brother, John Melville Kirk, Jr. and sister-in-law, Robin Mason Kirk, of Altadena, CA; her niece, Kristen Michelle Kessler, of Round Rock, TX, and her four children; her nephew, Timothy Carter Kirk, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, and his two children; and her longtime friend and companion, Ann Carlisle Wilson of Machipongo.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
