Frank Carter Fitzhugh, 82, husband of Violet Carpenter Fitzhugh and a resident of Capeville, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at his residence. A native of Cape Charles, VA, he was the son of the late Francis C. Fitzhugh, Jr. and the late Virginia V. Sadler Fitzhugh. He was the former owner of the longtime family owned Fitzhugh Garage, retired from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge–Tunnel, and former member and Chief of Cape Charles Fire Company.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Rusty Frank Fitzhugh and his wife, Doree, of Hampton, VA; two grandchildren, Ashley Fitzhugh and Austin Fitzhugh, both of Hampton; great granddaughter, Alayah Fitzhugh of Hampton; sister-in-law, Helen Wilson of Townsend, VA; and his loving dog, Mia.
A graveside service with Fireman’s Honors will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022, at 2:30PM at Cape Charles Cemetery with Mr. Barry Downing officiating. Family will join friends at the funeral home Saturday afternoon form 4:00 til 6:00PM. Flowers will be accepted.
